Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Position Summary
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company. He/She must have the ability to understand and synthesize a vast amount of data, opinions and emerging technologies. Proven ability to set the vision and strategy for technology and operations and to produce an effective roadmap is a must. The CTO works with the Board to grow the company through the use of technological resources. Using an active and practical approach, the CTO will direct all employees in R&D and IT to attain the company’s strategic goals established in the company’s strategic plan.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Establish the company’s technical vision and leads all aspects of the company’s technological development.
- Directs the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.
- Works in a consultative fashion with other departments -marketing, sales and consulting as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide leadership to department heads in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
- Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and makes determinations on the probability and budget of implementation.
- Ensures control of R&D and IT budgets.
Experience
- Experience stepping into established technical organizations and quickly gaining respect and methodically implementing a robust, effective development practice.
- Effective coach and guide for technical and product talent. Experience with large-scale, global internet technologies.
- Understanding of products lifecycle with an ability to source and seed innovation and produce quick results.
- Comfortable with technology scale and associated architectural challenges and experience proactively addressing them.
- Familiarity with a broad range of technologies in Data Mining and predictive analytics area and how they interrelate including open source components.
- A proven track record of architecting and building API’s, and analytics into platforms as well as the development and integration.
